August 1 - Al Mallory & Friends

For the past 20 years, Al Mallory - a Maine born singer/songwriter - has played a variety of music from old time to classic rock and blues. As a well known bass player for legendary musician Shawn McCole, he has also played bass at the Sud's Pub in Bethel regularly for over 18 years.Al has played in a number of bands including Powah Crew, known for playing at Sunday River and the Sud's Pub.

The music of the 50s, 60s and 70s is infectious, joyful and just plain fun!  So what could be more enjoyable than a group whose repertoire is classic 50s – 70s Rock & Roll and Pop, and whose singing style is also infectious, joyful and just plain fun?  “Act V”, (“Act Five”) is that group!

Sally Jones, Jeanie Stone and Bob Elliott are familiar faces in the western Maine music and theater communities. Now, in their senior years, they are singing 50s – 70s Rock and Pop, performed to recordings of the original background music for an authentic sound of the hits of their youth!  “Act V” has performed at the Norway Arts Festival, the Big Oxford Fair, The Poland Spring Summer Concert Series, and for many class reunions and other party venues.

The 1950s classic song by Nat King Cole, “Unforgettable”, describes the experience of an “Act V” performance.  They sing the "unforgettable" music of their youth, and the spin they put on these fun songs is uplifting and magical.  When you hear them you will agree that “Act V” is truly unforgettable!

Come sing along with “Act V” on Sunday, August 8.

August 8  - ACT V

After 20 years of kitchen jamming, playing open mics and many years as the vocalist for the Ball Brothers Band Brad released his first CD in 2009 entitles, Midnight at the Hilltop Hotel - a solo effort, recorded live which is to be followed in 2010 with another release. It is not uncommon for Brad to begin a performance and get so caught up in the music that he fades from the present, closes his eyes, opens his soul and let's it fly. He says: “When the sweat begins to flow I know I am riding the music. That's the way I roll." Expect laughter, tears and thought provoking songs from country to rock-n-roll. Brad's performances cover them all: Truly something for everyone.

A song slinger from Albany Township in Western Maine, Brad Hooper is a regular troubadour for hire. For this songwriting story teller, his guitar is just a vehicle to allow him to sing and tell tales. Compared to the likes of John Prine, John Hyatt, Steve Earl, Bob Dylan and Woody Gutherie you can be assured of a fine performance of original music, reflecting the color, the character and the lives of the Western Maine people. His understanding and compassion for the human experience brings a raw passion to his music, which mirrors the texture of his unique voice.

August 15 - Brad Hooper
